Manchester rivals desperate to snap up Belgian wonderkid…
Premier League rivals Manchester City and Manchester United are both keen to snap up prodigal young attacker Zakaria Bakkali, reports the Mirror.
The 17-year-old wonderkid stands at only 5 ft. 5″, but has been brilliant for Dutch side PSV who gave him his debut at the beginning of the season. Back in August, Bakkali scored a brilliant hat-trick against NEC which alerted Europe’s top clubs to his ability, and his stock has continued to rise ever since.
United and City are both desperate to secure a deal for the attacker, and will make PSV an offer for his service in January.
United boss David Moyes has showed if a young player is good enough, he will give them first-team chances. The Scot started fellow Belgian wonderkid Adnan Januzaj in the Premier League win over Sunderland at the weekend, and the starlet repaid him with two excellent goals. Bakkali is arguably rated even higher than Januzaj, but could be sent back to PSV on loan to help his development if either side eventually signed him.
City rarely play younger players, and the Belgian will have a mammoth task in dislodging the likes of Samir Nasri, David Silva, Steven Jovetic, James Milner and others to claim a starting spot at the Etihad.
Bakkali has outstanding skill. and enjoys taking on his fullback. He can play on the left or right of a front three in the favoured 4-3-3 formation both the Manchester clubs currently deploy.
