Reds fans delighted by Sturridge’s imminent return, but devastated by Glenn Johnson news…
Liverpool have been dealt mixed injury news ahead of next weekend’s Premier League tie away to Swansea, reports the Daily Star.
Daniel Sturridge, the 24-year-old forward who has started this season in blistering form, aggravated a thigh injury in the 1-0 victory against Manchester United, but should be fit for the Swansea clash despite missing England’s crucial World Cup qualifiers.
Glenn Johnson on the other hand, who similarly picked up an injury in his side’s crucial win over United, will unfortunately be out for up to ten weeks. The England right-back similarly missed his country’s 4-0 win over Moldova at Wembley, but more pressingly will also miss the vital tie away to the Ukraine on Tuesday evening.
Liverpool will be delighted their star striker will be fit for the Swansea game, as he has scored the winner in all three of their Premier League matches so far this season. Sturridge has thrived in Luis Suarez’s suspension induced absence, and has in fact been so good – that the Uruguayan striker will probably be accommodated into a wider position when his ban finishes.
Andre Wisdom was denied a loan move to Wigan Athletic follow Johnson’s injury, and is expected to deputise for the next few months – as the Reds hope to maintain their excellent start to the season.
