Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil says new players are on the way to Emirates Stadium and that the Gunners will get even better.
Mesut Ozil may be Arsenal’s record signing as a £42.5 million transfer deadline day purchase, but the Germany international is confident that there will be more to come.
Speaking to German publication Kicker in an interview translated by his national association the DFB, Ozil explained that the Gunners were very much on the up.
“At Arsenal, we have a very young team, even if it’s very good and extremely hungry,” said Ozil, who feels there is still much to do before his new side reaches their potential.
“We want to improve and we must improve. We have never seen ourselves as favourites in the Premier League or the Champions League.”
Ozil remains hopeful that he and his team-mates can challenge for trophies – whether it is this season or in future.
“I’m sure we can continue to improve each year and bring in new players too,” said Ozil.
“There will be further investment in the team in future.
“We have to take things one step at a time. If we do that, anything is possible.”
