Chelsea have confirmed the long-awaited signing of Didier Drogba, with the legendary Blues striker returning to the club on a one-year deal just two years after he departed on a free transfer.
The Ivory Coast international left Turkish side Galatasaray on a free transfer this summer, having returned to Stamford Bridge for the first time since his departure during a Champions League tie last season, and has been snapped up as Jose Mourinho looks to bring in competition for new boy Diego Costa.

Originally signed by Mourinho from Olympique Marseille in France, Drogba went on to become one of the club’s all-time leading goalscorers, a club icon and even scored the winning penalty in the Champions League final against Bayern Munich with his last kick for the club, earning the Blues their maiden triumph in that competition.
He originally joined Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua after departing Chelsea but left after just 11 league appearances due to a dispute with the club.
He will be vying for a place in Mourinho’s line-up with Costa, who is likely to be the new leader of the Chelsea attack after signing from Atletico Madrid, and also Fernando Torres and potentially Romelu Lukaku.
