Mata given chance to shine against League One minnows Swindon…
Jose Mourinho has promised to use players who were not involved against Fulham at the weekend, but the possible lineup for the League Cup tie away to Swindon this evening still looks frighteningly good.
Here’s how we expect Chelsea to lineup:
Defence:
Mark Schwarzer should make his debut for Mourinho’s men, with first-choice keeper Petr Cech rested. Ryan Bertrand and Cesar Azpilicueta should make rare starts at fullback, with David Luiz returning to the lineup after missing out against Fulham. He could partner young Czech centre-half Tomas Kalas, who spent the last two seasons on loan at Vitesse, but has been told by Mourinho to fight for his spot at Stamford Bridge. The 20-year-old would be making his Chelsea debut if selected.
Midfield:
In midfield, experienced Ghanaian battler Michael Essien will support talented summer signing Marco Van Ginkel, who will be given the freedom to roam forward and support the brilliant attacking players.
Attack:
Juan Mata will be given the no.10 role ahead of Brazilian Oscar this evening, making only his second start of the season. New summer signings Willian and Kevin De Bruyne will start from the wings, supporting either Fernando Torres or Demba Ba in what looks like a mouthwatering attack for Chelsea.
