Eto’o treble puts more pressure on David Moyes…
Chelsea player ratings, as Blues beat United 3-1:
- 01 Petr Cech – 6
The Czech stopper was largely untroubled, and wasn’t at fault for United’s goal. He did almost embarrass himself late on when trying to be clever with the ball at his feet, but managed to get the ball to safety.
- 02 Branislav Ivanovic – 7
Making his return from injury, the Serbian enforcer was as solid as ever on the right of a back four. He occasionally got forward to help the attackers, but focussed predominantly on his defensive work.
- 24 Gary Cahill – 7
Dealt with United’s limited attacking threat very well. Alongside John Terry, Chelsea have arguably the best defensive pairing in the Premier League right now, although Arsenal fans could claim that their Koscielny/Mertesacker pairing is better.
- 26 John Terry – 7
Like Cahill alongside him, Terry was composed in defence, and was rarely caught out of position. If Roy Hodgson doesn’t move heaven and earth to try and convince the Englishman to come out of international retirement, he’s missing a trick.
- 28 Cesar Azpilicueta – 6
Returning to left-back now Ivanovic has returned from injury, the Spaniard provided a consistent attacking threat up the left, but didn’t neglect his defensive duties either.
