The Portuguese coach has a special sense for goals.
Jose Mourinho has revealed why the 50-year-old has had so much success – because the Chelsea manager can smell when goals are going to be scored.
The Portuguese ace has revealed that the reason the coach doesn’t get nervous during matches is that he can smell what is going wrong and knows how to right it.
With the Premier League match with Norwich City at the weekend looking like heading towards a 1-1 result, Mourinho brought on Eden Hazard and Willian and the two wingers scored to take the game 1-3.
The Blues boss admits this is because of the special senses.
“During the game I am not nervous. I have feelings. I smell things, and when that easy (open) goal (from Ba) was missed, I had a smell that they would score a goal,” Mourinho was quoted by the Telegraph.
“We could have won or lost it at 1-1 because we, at that moment, didn’t want a point. We are trying to be top, so we tried to win it.”
The victory at Carrow Road leaves the west London team in third position in the English top tier heading into the international break.
Mourinho’s return to Stamford Bridge after a six-year absence has been assured if unspectacular, winning four of seven league matches and taking three points from two Champions League ties.
With the league so open there are currently six sides who could realistically lift the title and 2013/14 could be one of the most exciting years since the Premier League began.
