Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is delaying signing a new contract until he can be assured of the Gunners’ progress in the UEFA Champions League.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is refusing to enter negotiations for a new contract until he is satisfied with his own performance at the helm of the north London outfit.
The Gunners boss’ current deal expires at the end of the current season, but the Daily Mail report he wants to maintain his record of reaching the knockout stage of the UEFA Champions League in consecutive campaigns before he commits to an extension.
Arsenal are in a tough group with Borussia Dortmund, Napoli and Olympique Marseille, but sit atop the table on goal difference despite a sucker punch defeat to the Bundesliga outfit at Emirates Stadium on matchday three.
Wenger must now mastermind a positive result in the reverse fixture against Dortmund at Westfalenstadion to retain his team’s positive position in Group G.
Arsenal can be confident of a home victory against Marseille in their final match, but need to come home with something against either Borussia Dortmund and/or Napoli to be assured of progress.
