Mathieu Flamini – 6
In the end being a man short was too much but Flamini looked like he could have given it a good go in the middle of the park and keeping the Bayern attack quiet.
Jack Wilshere – 7
The team’s best player on the night, who was instrumental in attack during the early period of the match but of course tired as the game progressed.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – 7
The England international has been in good form since returning from a knee injury and was never overawed by the occasion and was a threat down the right flank.
Mesut Ozil – 5
A poor game for the German, despite starting strongly and doing well to win a penalty, but the resulting spot-kick was woeful and it seemed to knock the 25-year-old’s confidence.
Santi Cazorla – 6
Was working hard down the left flank, but was the man sacrificed when Szczesny was sent off and so never truly got going.
