Gonzalo Higuain and Marouane Fellaini would be great signings for Arsenal, say Gunners greats David Seaman and Lee Dixon.
Legendary Arsenal players David Seaman and Lee Dixon have stated their hope that the Gunners sign their two most strongly linked transfer targets of the summer: Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini and Real Madrid forward Gonzalo Higuain.
The two players will reportedly cost a combined total of £45 million, with Gonzalo Higuain having agreed a £22m deal according to the Daily Telegraph, and Marouane Fellaini available for £23 million thanks to a minimum fee release clause in his contract.
That would use up the majority of Arsenal’s transfer budget of £70m this summer, but it would likely be money well spent, as both players would be highly useful assets to the north London club.
Lee Dixon was particularly excited about Higuain.
“If it comes off [Higuain signing for Arsenal], hopefully from an Arsenal point of view, he’s quality through and through,” said the former Gunners right back.
“He will score goals there’s no doubt about that. He will get chances at Arsenal because they do create chances, they play his type of game so I think he’ll fit in really well.”
David Seaman is especially keen to see Marouane Fellaini in action, with the physical approach of the Everton star noted as likely to be a key attribute for Arsenal.
“He [Fellaini] is a great player and Arsenal have got to change their ways a little bit to get the best out of the team,” said Seaman.
“You’ve got to have your own strengths and he has certainly got a lot of them especially aerial strength.
“If he does join I think he’ll be a great signing.”
