After a so far excellent season, John Terry is set to be rewarded a new contract to stay at Chelsea beyond the end of this season, reports the Telegraph.
The 33-year-old has arguably been the best defender in the Premier League this term, helping his side to the top table, and marshalling the defence that has conceded the least goals expertly.
As a result, talks have began to extend the centre-back’s contract, which expires this summer.
Reports suggest however that Terry will be asked to take a considerable pay cut from his current £150,000-per-week salary.
The former England skipper would prefer to stay at Chelsea, but it remains to be seen whether he’ll be willing to do so for less money, when there will likely be plenty of lucrative offers from abroad on the table.
