It’s June 24th 1998.
American Emmanuel Yarborough is set to take on Japanese fighter Daiju Takase in one of the most unusual Mixed Martial Arts contests ever.
That is because of the size of each fighter.
Yarborough was World Amateur Sumo Champion in 1995, and went on to compete in MMA.
He is 6’8″ (2.03m) tall, and an astonishing 600 lbs (270 kg; 43 st).
Takase is almost the polar opposite. A lithe 169 lbs (77kg; 12 st), he is absolutely dwarved by Yarborough.
The 417 lbs between the two fighters remains the biggest ever in MMA history – and Yarborough holds the Guinness World Record for largest athlete.
