Meanwhile, Pacers and Heat continue to break away in the East.
It was another busy night in the NBA on Saturday, but the San Antonio Spurs and Portland Trail Blazers showed no signs of slowing down as they extended their winning streaks further.
The Blazers arguably sealed the more impressive of the two wins as they conquered the Oracle Arena and defeated the Golden State Warriors 113-101.
LaMarcus Aldridge led the way with 30 points and 21 rebounds, but was well supported by the back-court duo of Damian Lillard (20) and Wesley Matthews (23).
Meanwhile, Klay Thompson matched Aldridge’s 30 points, but it wasn’t enough for the Warriors with coach Mark Jackson perhaps having reason for concern as his team’s form has suffered in recent weeks.
Elsewhere, the Spurs remain at the top of the Western Conference after their 126-96 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers.
As has been a hallmark of Gregg Popovich’s side, the wily old coach has benefited from scoring from various different players, with Danny Green going 5-of-7 from beyond the arc on his way to a game-high 17 points.
Patty Mills (15) and Marco Belinelli (10) added production off the bench, while Popovich was allowed to rest the likes of Tony Parker and Tim Duncan who both played less than 20 minutes.
In contrast, there is no such respite for the New York Knicks players who slipped to yet another defeat after their 98-89 loss to the Washington Wizards.
Despite growing speculation that coach Mike Woodson’s position might be under threat, he remains in charge for now despite the Knicks falling to 3-9 for the season.
There were no problems for the Indiana Pacers and Miami Heat though, as both teams picked up home wins on Saturday to further stretch their lead at the top of the Eastern Conference.
The Pacers overcame the Philadelphia 76ers while the Heat beat the Orlando Magic, although the latter found life slightly more difficult with a narrow 101-99 win.
