They have been considered unworthy to be in this year’s NCAA Tournament, and that will not go away any time soon as they received a controversial goaltending call.
When Bryce Alford, the son of UCLA head coach Steve Alford, attempted a three-point jumper, the shot appeared to be an air ball. It was recovered by an SMU player before the officials called it goaltending.
The play was never reviewed, and the Bruins won the game by one point in an abrupt, stunning upset.
