Point guard produces big moment despite struggle.
Chicago Bulls star Derrick Rose made his long-awaited return at the United Center on Thursday night, and hit the game-winner against the New York Knicks in a 82-81 win.
The 25-year-old was returning to his home floor for the first time in 18 months in competitive NBA regular season action, after suffering from an ACL tear in the 2012 play-offs.
However, he showed plenty of rustiness early on and went 2-of-6 in the opening stages before eventually finding some rhythm and setting up a dramatic finish.
With the Knicks leading by a point with just over 10 seconds remaining, the Bulls inbound to eventually find Rose who floated home the winner over Tyson Chandler to seal the win.
It was the perfect response for coach Tom Thibodeau after seeing his team go down against the Miami Heat on opening night, and the hope will now be that Rose continues to improve and re-integrate himself into the game and into his team.
