Mesut Ozil had had his critics this season, but he responded in spectacular style with a tremendous curled free kick not ten minutes after Hector Bellerin gave the hosts the lead.
With the Gunners cruising, both Ozil and Sanchez stood over the ball and debated over who would take it. The pair faked and dummied, but it was the World Cup winner who took the step up.
Ozil then curled the ball around the wall like it was a training exercise, sending Simon Mignolet helplessly sprawling and swiping at air.
The Belgian goalkeeper will be disappointed to concede on his side though, and a quick step to his left looks to have put him off balance before a shot to his right deceived him.
Per Mertesacker played his part in the goal too, making sure to perch himself on the end of the wall to block the keeper’s view, and all that was left was for Ozil to curl the ball around everybody.
Having taken a verbal bashing from fans and critics alike recently, the Arsenal playmaker wheeled away, clearly delighted with his effort.
