Sunderland are prepared to smash their wage structure in order to lure Peter Crouch to the Stadium of Light.
The Tottenham hitman seems to be on his way out of favour at White Hart Lane despite being on the teamsheet for Sunday’s 5-1 drubbing at the hands of Manchester City with Jermain Defoe and Roman Pavlyuchenko starting on the substitutes’ bench. The beanpole hitman has been heavily linked to a move to Stoke City though talks have broken down allowing Sunderland to steal in.
According to Goal.com, the Black Cats have offered Crouch a whopping £80,000 a week to move to Wearside. The England international is though to be happy at Tottenham but is aware his position is precarious espeically with the arrival of Emmanuel Adebayor at the club and knows any chance of returning to the international arena depends on him playing first team football.
The wages on offer are a significant increase on the £65,000 a wekk that he currently picks up at Spurs and Sunderland are hopeful that a move will be agreed before Wednesday’s 11pm transfer deadline.
