Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp believes there is still ‘a good chance’ of signing Real Madrid midfielder Lassana Diarra.
Spurs are keen to bolster their squad before the transfer window shuts on Wednesday and they are not giving up on their pursuit of the France international.
Diarra claimed on Thursday that he was not expecting a deal to happen following suggestions Spurs are prepared to pay 12million euros (£10.6m).
But Redknapp is keen to be reunited with the 26-year-old having worked with him at Portsmouth.
“Things haven’t broken down,” said Redknapp. “There is still a good chance. The chairman is working on it.
“I signed him at Portsmouth and they sold him for £22million.
“He’s real talent, a fantastic player and it’s a real possibility still.”
