Spurs’ projected line-up for the visit of Liverpool.
Tottenham Hotspur face a crunch clash with Liverpool at White Hart Lane on Sunday, knowing a win will see them draw level with Brendan Rodgers’ high-flying side on 30 points.
Spurs beat Anzhi Makhachkala 4-1 in a Europa League dead rubber on Thursday night and a string of impressive performances will have given boss Andre Villas-Boas a headache ahead of Liverpool’s visit.
GK: Hugo Lloris
After being rested midweek, Spurs number one Hugo Lloris will return against Liverpool. The Frenchman made a howler last weekend against Sunderland and must be back to his best to contain the mercurial Luis Suarez, who will shoot on sight.
RB: Kyle Walker
The England full-back will return against the Reds knowing he has fresh competition for a spot in the first team. Ryan Fredericks, 21, was excellent in the second half against Anzhi and Villas-Boas may now be more willing to give the youngster minutes in the league when Walker needs a rest.
LB: Kyle Naughton
With Danny Rose lacking match fitness and Jan Vertonghen injured, Naughton is the default option for Villas-Boas at left back. The solid but unspectacular right-footer will have his hands full with Glen Johnson.
CB: Michael Dawson
Spurs’ captain was rested midweek and will return to the heart of defence against Liverpool. With Younes Kaboul and Jan Vertonghen unfit, and Vlad Chiriches struggling, Dawson’s solid presence is all the more vital.
CB: Vlad Chiriches
The Romanian has been mightily impressive since joining Spurs this summer and boss Villas-Boas will be praying the controversial blood-spinning technique will help the 23-year-old recover from a knee injury in time to face Suarez and co.
