Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has admitted that the new contract signed by Sandro caught him by surprise.
In fact, the Spurs boss was entirely unaware of the Brazil midfielder’s five year deal until he caught the story on television.
“I was pleased to see that on Sky Sports News last night. It was good,” said Redknapp earlier.
“I never had a clue. I was pleased to see it but I didn’t know anything about it.”
Redknapp may have had no idea of contract negotiations, but claimed he finds ignorance is bliss.
“I don’t get involved in that really,” he said. “The chairman deals with that.
“Managers don’t get involved any more in negotiations. It’s been like that for years and years, which is fine.
“I have enough on my plate worrying about picking teams and working with the players. Daniel loves doing that so he gets on with that.”
