4. Take ownership
David Moyes admitted that he has been affected by fan pressure when he stated that he did not want to substitute Robin Van Persie against Newcastle United when Man Utd were losing 0-1.
The Dutchman was making his first start since suffering a groin injury, and was not fit enough to play ninety minutes.
“I was due to take Van Persie off after 60 minutes, but if I had, people would have said, ‘What are you doing?'” said Moyes.
The Manchester United manager ought to have realised that had Van Persie suffered a further setback, the knives would have been out further.
Moyes shouldn’t be gambling on the fitness of one of his best players in order to placate fans. He should be doing what is best for the team long term.
