Forbes has released its list of the 100 highest-paid athletes, and it features many major-league baseball players. However, not all of them have played at an elite enough level to justify their contracts.
The highest-paid MLB player is currently Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Cliff Lee. His contract would have been justifiable before 2014, but the Phillies are now paying for offering him an excessive contract along with other aging veterans.
