The Dutchman has been axed after five straight defeats in the Premier League.
The 3-0 Premier League defeat to West Ham United on Saturday was the final straw for Fulham as manager Martin Jol was sacked following five straight losses.
Jol is a popular figure in the football world but the Cottagers hierarchy clearly couldn’t cope with the Dutchman’s tactics any longer and first team coach Rene Meulensteen has taken over with immediate effect.
Of course it didn’t take very long for Twitter to be awash with tweets about the 57-year-old and here are the best and funniest of the bunch.

With the west London club languishing in 18th position it’s hardly a surprise that Jol has been given the push and the conspiracy theorists will now start on why Meulensteen was hired.
Hopefully it won’t be too long until the coach is seen back in a dugout somewhere though.
