Sunderland are understood to have agreed a deal with Arsenal to sign Nicklas Bendtner on loan with a view to a permanent transfer.
The move reportedly has a clause that should Bendtner make a certain amount of appearances, a purchase would become mandatory.
Bendtner’s fee is thought to be around the £8m mark, while Arsenal would also insert a clause to ensure they receive a percentage of any future sale.
Bendtner has shone in stages at Arsenal, but has never demonstrated to Arsene Wenger the consistency required to be a top striker.
Perhaps the Denmark international will find his form with a fresh start under Steve Bruce at the Stadium of Light.
