Tottenham Hotspur have signed Spain Under-21 winger Iago Falque from Juventus on a season long loan, but their pursuit of Real Madrid midfielder Lassana Diarra looks to have ended in defeat.
Falque’s father revealed his son’s excitement at joining Spurs.
“Iago loves big challenges and this with Spurs is very important,” said Falque Snr.
“It will be hard, but he will fight for his place.”
Falque plays much of his football on the left flank so is perhaps being signed as a backup option for when Gareth Bale is unavailable.
As for Diarra, the player himself quashed any talk of a prospective move.
“Information about my departure is a lie,” he told Marca.
“There is no agreement with Tottenham and I don’t think there will be.”
“I have a contract with Real Madrid until 2013 and Jose Mourinho is my coach.”
