Seahawks star continues to split opinion but is a popular choice in jersey list.
Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman is one of three players from the franchise to break into the top 10 best selling NFL jerseys.
Along with quarterback Russell Wilson and running back Marshawn Lynch, who are second and sixth in the list respectively, Sherman breaks into the top 10 and is the only defensive player to make it so high.
Sales have been tallied from the start of the NFL’s fiscal year on April 1, 2013, through to last week with the figures being released by the league’s official store, NFLShop.com.
Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning is top of the list, while San Francisco 49ers star Colin Kaepernick, Tom Brady and Drew Brees complete the top five.
Nevertheless, Sherman jumped up three spots in January alone as he surpassed Robert Griffin III, who sold more jerseys last year than any NFL player ever had in a single season.
However, due to injury and a poor season, Griffin has been unable to maintain his position in the top 10 list, although he will be expected to bounce back and have a big year next season.
No Seahawks player has ever finished the season in the top 10 since the league began collecting data for its best-selling jerseys back in 2001, with Wilson and Lynch finishing in 14th and 15th places respectively last year.
Despite splitting opinion given their dominance on the field, and Sherman’s comments off it, the Seahawks appear to be a growing force in revenue terms and will be looking to cap off a successful year with a Super Bowl win at the MetLife Stadium against the Broncos on February 2.
