Santos forward Neymar has revealed he is thrilled by reports suggesting he has been nominated for this year’s Ballon d’Or award.
Neymar, 19, scored all four goals in his club’s 4-1 win over Atletico Paranaense as his rise to stardom shows no sign of abating.
The Brazilian sensation has now scored 78 goals for the club since his debut in March 2009, with rumours linking him to the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid.
“It is a big happiness to be on a list like that while playing in Brazil,” the youngster is quoted byGloboesporte as saying.
“I am very happy with all I have been through in my career, the good things and the bad things.
“I only have everyone to thank.”
The wonderkid also spoke of his sheer joy every time he steps out onto the pitch.
“I have always said I love playing football,” he enthused.
“When I am on the field I feel like a kid, playing with the ball. I am very happy playing football.”
The official list of 50 nominees for the prize will be announced on November 1, with three finalist to be named on December 5, and the awards ceremony will be held on January 9, 2012.
