Rajasthan Royals have a brilliant opportunity to capitalise on the teams around them in the IPL dropping points, as they host Delhi Daredevils in Jaipur.
With Royal Challengers Bangalore’s dramatic defeat to Kings XI Punjab on Monday, Rajasthan could jump above RCB with victory in this game in hand.
Rahul Dravid and his franchise have been something of a surprise addition at the top of the table this season but they have certainly warranted their place with their performances.
In James Faulkner the Royals have arguably the most in-form bowler in the competition, with the Australian looking in good shape ahead of the Ashes.
Although Faulkner doesn’t lead the race for the Purple Cap award for most wickets in the tournament, he has played less matches than his rivals and still holds the best figures so far in 2013 with 5-20.
With Shane Watson leading the batting line-up Dravid also has a batsman capable of changing a game and Watson is fast becoming recognised as one of the best players with the blade in Twenty20 cricket.
As for Delhi, although their poor start to the season means they are highly unlikely to qualify for the play-offs, Mahela Jayawardene’s side have found some form in recent matches and have won three of their last five.
Jayawardene himself has looked good with the bat and he has been well supported by Virender Sehwag and David Warner – with the Aussie ninth in the Orange Cap standings for most runs.
