Queens Park Rangers are set to complete the free transfer signing of tempestuous Newcastle United midfielder Joey Barton, after it was revealed he had chosen to leave St James’ Park.
Barton was made available on a free transfer by Newcastle after criticising the club board over their decisions to sell star players such as Andy Carroll, Jose Enrique and Kevin Nolan, and not invest it in the team.
Earlier today, Barton tweeted, “Going to have to make a decision today, its only fair to all parties.”
That decision has now been made, with Barton electing to take QPR up on their offer, and the 28 year-old has signed a four year contract at Loftus Road.
