The National Football League have awarded the rights to host the 2015 Super Bowl to Phoenix, Arizona – the third time the desert city will have hosted the showpiece occasion.
Phoenix beat out Tampa, Florida for the right to stage the 49th edition of the biggest single day annual sporting showcase in America.
The Phoenix area also hosted the 2008 and 1996 Super Bowls.
Next year’s game is in Indianapolis, followed by New Orleans in 2013 and New York in 2014.
The owners also approved a resolution to play regular-season games in Britain through 2016 on Tuesday. NFL clubs can volunteer to play at least one regular-season home game per year in Britain for up to five years.
Tampa Bay will host Chicago on October 23 in London, the fifth consecutive year the league has staged an October game there. No details on future games were announced.
