PAOK Salonika were held 0-0 at home by a young Tottenham Hotspur team.
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp had already revealed his priorities, having left the likes of Rafael van der Vaart out of his UEFA Europa League squad.
Like many teams do with the Carling Cup domestically then, Tottenham used the competition to blood some youngsters.
Iago Falque had an early shot saved, Harry Kane probably ought to have won a penalty after being felled in the box, and Jake Livermore impressed with some driving runs.
However, that’s not to say that Spurs didn’t ride their luck at times.
A scored penalty by PAOK man Lino was ordered to be retaken due to encroachment, and the second attempted was missed to Carlo Cudicini’s left.
In the last minute a header from Vladimir Ivic hit the bar, and Tottenham were able to hold on.
Any away point in Europe is invaluable, and Harry Redknapp will be pleased with his young charges.
