Spain’s Nicolas Terol has been crowned the world champion in the 125cc category on Sunday after finishing second on his Aprilia behind teenage sensation Maverick Vinales.
Vinales, also riding an Aprilia, recorded his fourth win of the season as the 16-year-old beat home Aspar stable team-mates Terol and Hector Faubel.
Vinales victory sees him become the youngest rider to win two successive races, having won in Malaysia a fortnight ago.
Terol was assured of the title – which is replaced by Moto3 next year – when his only rival for the championship Frenchman Johann Zarco fell when he lost control of the front of his bike on the 12th corner when in fifth spot.
Zarco would have had to win and hope Terol finish 12th or worse for him to become champion.
