Embiid currently the frontrunner to be selected with number one overall pick.
Top NBA prospect Joel Embiid is expected to meet with the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday in order to work out for the franchise and undergo a medical evaluation.
The 7-foot college star is widely expected to be the number one overall pick at the NBA Draft on June 26, with the Cavs wanting to have a closer look at him ahead of making their decision.
However, given the fact that he was forced to sit out the end of his freshman campaign with Kansas due to a stress fracture in his lower back, there are some concerns within the franchise over whether or not he could suffer from injuries related to his back in the future.
Embiid’s health was a topic of discussion prior to when he declared himself available in the Draft, but having seemingly been given the all-clear to continue his basketball career at a professional level next season, the Cavs are unlikely to find too much to worry them.
The former Kansas star averaged 11.2 points, 8.1 rebounds and 2.6 blocks last season but he did miss the Big 12 and NCAA tournaments due to his injury while he was also absent from the Chicago Combine last month.
Nevertheless, he did participate in a 1-on-0 workout for NBA teams in Santa Monica, California in late-May, but it will essentially come down to how he fares in both his work-outs and evaluations in Cleveland in the coming days as to where he will be drafted.
Former team-mate Andrew Wiggins and Jabari Parker are expected to provide solid competition at the top of the draft board, with the former expected to work out with the Milwaukee Bucks.
