Liverpool have received a huge boost with the news that Steven Gerrard is set to return to full training – but summer signing Charlie Adam is set to miss their next match.
Adam suffered a minor hip injury on international duty with Scotland after their draw against the Czech Republic, and is unlikely to play against Stoke City.
Gerrard however could feature from the bench – or even start if Reds boss Kenny Dalglish believes he is ready – despite recent speculation that his groin complaint was career-threatening.
“I’ve heard all the rumours, and I am getting to the point where I’m worried if there are no rumours about me, but the fact is, the tests have shown my groin is stronger than ever before,” laughed the England midfielder.
“But I’m just so excited about getting back and getting that first win under my belt – at that point all the hard work I’ve put in and all the little setbacks I’ve had will be worthwhile.”
