Italian rider Michele Pirro won the final Moto2 race of the season here on Sunday, prompting his boss Fausto Gresini to burst into tears a fortnight after his other rider Marco Simoncelli was killed during the Malaysian MotoGp.
Pirro, who used to ride in the Supersport world series, beat home Suter duo Mika Kallio of Finland and Switzerland’s Dominique Aergerter.
Newly-crowned world champion Stefan Bradl of Germany wasn’t able to celebrate in style as he crashed out on the fourth lap when lying in sixth place.
Pirro took command a lap later when Japanese leader Yuki Takahashi took a heavy fall, thankfully after being taken to the medical station he was given the all clear.
Pirro completed his dream weekend after egistering his first ever pole position with his first win in the category prompting the outpouring of emotion from Gresini.
