Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed England defender Chris Smalling will be out of action for a month with a broken foot.
Smalling, 21, missed Saturday’s 1-0 win at Everton with the foot injury and Ferguson confirmed the former Fulham player is set for a spell on the sidelines.
Smalling’s lay-off means he will miss England’s November friendlies against Spain and Sweden.
“Smalling has a small fracture on his foot,” Ferguson told MUTV. “I think he’ll be out for a month and it’s unfortunate that one.”
