Jamie Redknapp has revealed his belief that Manchester United ace Anthony Martial is the most promising teenager in football since Lionel Messi.
The former England international was speaking to presenter Ed Chamberlain in their look ahead to the weekend’s fixtures on Sky Sports, and he revealed just how impressed he has been with Martial.
Having found the net regularly since his move to Old Trafford, the 19-year-old has been earning rave reviews and has seemingly adapted to life in the Premier League with ease.
Redknapp is particularly impressed with his intelligence on the field, as he sees the Frenchman always picking the right option, whether it is to pass, shoot or take on his man.
There is a counter argument that suggests that Martial is still a surprise element for Premier League defences, and the true test will come over the coming months when they address his threat and look to nullify him.
If the French international can continue to shine alongside the likes of Wayne Rooney and Juan Mata, then Redknapp will potentially be proven correct in that the former Monaco star is one of the most talented teenagers to emerge on the main stage in European football since Messi.
