English giants Manchester United have been rocked by the demands of Southampton for acquiring the services of 18-year old teenage starlet Luke Shaw, reports the Daily Mail.
The Saints are continuing to play hardball over the transfer of Shaw as they now demand a ludicrous £40 million for the teenager, who has been one of Red Devils’ new boss Louis Van Gaal’s top transfer targets this summer.
Southampton’s new manager Ronald Koeman wants his higher ups not to sanction any more player sales this summer after learning that Liverpool are closing in on their skipper Adam Lallana and their ace defender Dejan Lovren. Moreover, the Saints already lost one of their long serving strikers in Rickie Lambert earlier in the summer to the Anfield club, and know that anymore exits will leave them in a pickle before the start of next season.
Manchester United could now find it extremely hard to land Shaw, who was widely tipped to be set for a launch on the big stage at Old Trafford. The England international also has a long term deal at the St. Mary’s which has given the South Coast club some leverage while negotiating with top teams.
