Manchester United have been linked with a late transfer window swoop for Benfica players Oscar Cardozo and Nicolas Gaitan.
Old Trafford scout Martin Ferguson was at Benfica’s match with Nacional, and told Portuguese newspaper O Jogo he admired the pair.
“It was the first time I saw Gaitan, and I enjoyed it – he played very well,” said Ferguson about the Argentine left winger.
“I also enjoyed Witsel, Maxi Pereira, Emerson, in the second half, and Cardozo.
“Cardozo is very strong and secures the ball very well,” explained the Scot – but his transfer seems more unlikely both due to his age (28) and position (striker, in which the club are well stocked).
Although David Gill and Sir Alex Ferguson have said there will be no more signings, perhaps there may be a final bit of business at Manchester United before the transfer window closes.
