The Red Devils are long-time admirers of the Welshman, who has had a difficult time at the Bernabeu this season and may be heading back to the Premier League, where he previously starred with Tottenham Hotspur.
The 25-year-old would be a useful signing for the club, particularly with rumours elsewhere suggesting that Barcelona could be lining up a surprise raid on Old Trafford for Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata and Ander Herrera.
All three players are said to be on the Catalans’ radar ahead of next season, according to the Daily Mirror, and that would no doubt leave some gaps to be filled in Louis van Gaal’s side.
Bale is among the Dutchman’s main targets to come in, while Mats Hummels and Memphis Depay are also still high on his list of priorities for the next transfer window.
