Manchester United and Liverpool are both interested in the signings of Mohamed Bangura and Teteh Bangura from AIK Stockholm, according to Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet.
Teteh Bangura is 21, while Mohamed – unrelated, despite sharing the same surname – is a year older.
It is Teteh who is attracting wider interest though, as he has bagged 15 goals in 15 league games so far this season for the Stockholm team.
The club know both Sierra Leone internationals are prized assets, and will not let them go without a fight, but equally are aware that they are powerless against the might of the European elite.
“We never comment on individual clubs scouting our players.
“However, interest on Sunday [when AIK played Kalmar] was very high and there will be a similar interest against Elfsborg,” predicted AIK sports director Jens Andersson to Expressen.
Both players’ absences from training sessions recently only led to rumours escalating, but Andersson denied either Bangura was absent for any suspicious reason/
“They’re back with us.
“Both trained on Thursday. Mohamed had hypoglycaemia in the foot and Teteh had a cold and had a sore knee, but there is no problem,” claimed Andersson.
