Man City will begin the 2013/14 season with a home game against Newcastle United.
Manuel Pellegrini will start his tenure as Manchester City boss in front of the club’s fans after City were handed an opening fixture day against Newcastle United at the Etihad Stadium.
Newly-promoted Cardiff City and Hull City then follow before the end of August in what looks a relatively easy start for the Chilean, who may now feel more relaxed about leaving his big transfer business until the eleventh hour.
But 21 September sees the first Manchester derby of the season at the Etihad before a return fixture at Old Trafford scheduled for 1 March.
Pellegrini will meet his former La Liga adversary Jose Mourinho on 26 October at Stamford Bridge and 1 February at Eastlands, but the Premier League runners-up face a relatively kind run-in with the trickiest-looking of their final six matches at Anfield in mid-April.
The Citizens will finish the season with a home game against West Ham.
