Manchester City have confirmed the signing of Samir Nasri from Arsenal shortly after the player passed both stages of his medical.
Nasri is thought to have cost around £24m, which means Arsenal have acquired a decent fee for a player with just a year remaining on his contract, but should they fail to qualify for the UEFA Champions League tonight, his and Fabregas’ sales could prove priceless losses for the club in the long term.
Arsenal now have around a week to secure replacements for both players, but in the meantime Manchester City have assembled a formidable squad.
Nasri is to sign a deal at the Etihad Stadium for the next four years, where he will play alongside star names Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko, David Silva and Yaya Toure.
It is clear that Manchester City’s ambitions are growing, and because Shaun Wright-Phillips remains at the club, Nasri will wear the number 19 shirt rather than his favoured number 8.
