Champions step up interest in La Liga star.
Manchester City have opened talks with Atletico Madrid over the signing of £47m-rated midfielder Koke, also a target for Chelsea and Manchester United, according to the Daily Star.
The 22-year-old is a superbly creative midfield player with an eye for goal who is seen by City as the ideal long-term replacement for current star Yaya Toure.
It seems the Premier League champions are ready to meet Koke’s £47m release clause and bring him to the Etihad Stadium in the near future, having met with Atletico officials to thrash out a deal.
Koke’s fine form has seen him linked with big clubs in the past but the Etihad Stadium now looks his likeliest destination.
