Liverpool have agreed an £8m fee for Birmingham City defender Scott Dann, according to a number of UK newspapers this morning.
Dann has been part of a stern Blues back line for the last two seasons, and Birmingham actually conceded the same or less goals than seven other teams last season.
It was their average goalscoring of less than a goal a game that proved their eventual downfall as they were relegated to the nPower Championship.
Dann’s partner Roger Johnson has already departed for Wolverhampton Wanderers – and been made Wolves captain – and it seems likely Dann will follow him out the St Andrew’s exit.
Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish is aware that senior defenders Jamie Carragher and Sotirios Kyrgiakos are coming to the end of their careers, and will need to be replaced.
