Liverpool owner John W Henry says his team will not be title contenders this season, but still wants them to aim for the UEFA Champions League.
The American has certainly been busy attempting to improve Liverpool, with the big money signings of Stewart Downing, Jordan Henderson and Charlie Adam this summer.
They will attempt to supply Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll up front for the Anfield team, and Kenny Dalglish has now spent more than £100m since taking over as manager.
Of course, £50m was recouped from the sale of Fernando Torres, but a transformation is certainly underway.
“It’s too early for us to start talking about winning the league,” conceded Henry.
“In my opinion Manchester United (are the team to beat). They have a good squad and look good.
“Our main goal is to qualify for the Champions League.
“If we don’t it would be a major disappointment.”
