Liverpool have approached Manchester City to sign England winger Adam Johnson on loan, according to the Metro.
Kenny Dalglish would enjoy the width and flair that Johnson would bring to Liverpool, and it would mean Dirk Kuyt can fit in either up front or on the wing when required.
Johnson’s place in the side at the Etihad Stadium is under threat after Roberto Mancini bought Samir Nasri to complement Yaya Toure and David Silva in support of Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko up front.
However, Mancini would be understandably reluctant to lose a player at the expense of domestic rivals for the UEFA Champions League places – or even the Premier League title – and may veto any such deal.
