Liverpool are lining up a shock £10m bid for Wolves striker Kevin Doyle, according to the Daily Star.
Reds boss Kenny Dalglish reportedly sent a scout to watch Doyle in action for Wolves yesterday against Fulham – and the Scot would have liked what he saw as the 27-year-old slotted home a neat finish in his side’s 2-0 win.
But Dalglish will face firm resilience from Wolves boss Mick McCarthy who is desperate to keep Republic of Ireland striker.
But money talks, Dalglish has been backed so far in the transfer market by owners Fenway Sports Group and the Anfield club’s financial muscle may be too much for Wolves to fend off.
Liverpool’s director of football Damien Comolli is also keen to bring Doyle to Anfield and even tried signing him for Tottenham during his spell at White Hart Lane.
Dalglish is eager to strengthen his forward line before the transfer window shuts with David Ngog the only back-up to Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll.
