Bolton Wanderers will today sign David Ngog for £4m from Liverpool, according to the BBC.
The French striker has proven his quality on occasion at Anfield, with particular highlights in the early stages of last season’s UEFA Europa League, but his lack of consistency has made him surplus to requirements on Merseyside.
Bolton boss Owen Coyle believes that regular first team football will give Ngog the confidence to shine at the Reebok Stadium, and admitted he was “hopeful” a deal would be pushed through today.
As for Liverpool, the sale will free up a place in their squad to sign a forward, with Mauro Zarate the latest name linked.
