The agent of Samuel Eto’o has confirmed the Inter Milan striker is set to join Anzhi Makhachkala – with the Italian giants lining up Carlos Tevez as his replacement.
The Cameroon international does not want to extend his contact at the San Siro and his representative Claudio Vigorelli has confirmed his client has “almost reached an agreement” over personal terms with the Russian club.
Free-spending Anzhi are bankrolled by billionaire owner Suleyman Kerimov and recently signed Chelsea’s Yuri Zhirkov, while Roberto Carlos is their captain.
The Russian outfit have yet to agree a fee with Inter but that is not believed to be a major issue.
“We have almost reached an agreement with Anzhi. Now we hope that the clubs agree,” Vigorelli told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Anzhi are ready to pay £20million a year in wages to secure Eto’o, who has been linked with a swap deal involving Manchester City misfit Carlos Tevez.
However, the Argentina striker could yet be on his way to the San Siro, as Inter plan to use the use the funds from the sale of Eto’o to launch a bid for City’s unsettled star.
Tevez reluctantly returned to training with City on Monday, having previously stated he would never return to Manchester.
